In a battle of winless teams at SoFi Stadium, Eagle Rock and Bell both looked to turn their seasons around. After a back-and-forth first half, the Eagles exploded in the second to secure a convincing 35-10 victory.
Both teams started off rocky, but the first half is always different from the second half.
Scoring didn’t kick off till the middle of the 1st quarter after Bell’s Edgar Merida kicked a 30
yard field goal. The following drive, Eagle Rock’s Quarterback, Liam Pasten, throws a 50 yard
bomb to put the Eagles into the red zone, followed by a 15 yard rushing touchdown by the Eagles.
Nearing the end of the first quarter, after a beautiful punt by Bell’s Edgar Merida, Eagle Rock’s
Liam Pasten throws a pick 6 to Bell’s Joel Medrano. Pasten and the Eagles offense were able to
bounce back from this mistake by taking a screen pass 60 yards to the house, putting the Eagles
up 14-10 to close out the half.
At first, everyone thought this game was going to stay this close, but one team proved everyone
wrong. Eagle Rock’s opening drive sets the tone for the half as Pasten opens up the scoring with
a rushing touchdown. With this score, the Eagles defense was locked in, keeping Bell’s offense
off the scoreboard while also forcing incredible turnovers, especially when Bell’s #9 Antwan
Jimenez threw a jump ball to #1 Danny Reyes, which seemed to be caugh, butt ended up being an
interception by #12 Robert Infante. Unlike Bell’s Offense, Eagle Rock’s offense was heating up
as they scored 14 unanswered points, ending the game 35-10.
Player of the Game was Liam Pasten with 3 total touchdowns and over 200 total yards.
The Eagle Rock Eagles are now 1-2, heading to Taft Charter High School on September 19th.
The Bell Eagles are now 0-3, looking to face San Pedro next week.
